We went to the History Theater to see Rollicking tonight. It was a musical about the St. Paul Winter Carnival. It started a little slow, then picked up steam to be a very funny show with amazing costumes. There were Hilex drops of bleach as characters who spouted endless facts about the winter carnival throughout its history (started in the 1880s, so long history). Why bleach drops? I am unclear and I don’t care. They were very funny. I laughed out loud a bunch of times – sometimes all by myself. We ran into Carla and her friend Marge and I sat with them (general admission seating) to chat before the show and stayed with them, while Keith hopped to a single seat a few rows ahead. We didn’t get there too early and the house was pretty full. Anyway, Keith said he heard me laugh one time (by myself) and thought, “that’s something she’d laugh at.” The second act needed an editor. It veered from winter carnival into the characters (human, not bleach drops) relationship issues, and while interesting and with well performed songs, it made it really long and lost the humor thread. It was kind of two plays in one – obviously that’s a thing – but this was too clunky and too long. Sorry, play.
I went to the eye doctor today for my two-week check and I am doing a great job of healing. He said the spot will continue to reduce very rapidly – possibly gone in as little as a week – and I can sleep on my right side and pick things up!! Yay! I swear the black spot reduced from yesterday, so wow!

Sounds like an interesting play – we were just sharing memories of the Winter Carnival with family folks down here in sunny San Antonio the other day. VERRRRRY excited about the eye recovery news!
I learned a lot about the Winter Carnival – I have never been! Perhaps this will be the year. I, too, am VERRRRRRRRY excited.
