At least five Keiths and a bunch of Aoifes

Monday, June 15, 2026

We watch movie credits to find our names. Benjamin and Alexander are always there – sometimes by the dozen. Keith pops up in a lot of movies. We think that is where Keiths go – to make movies, because we don’t really run across them anywhere else. Often enough for us to keep looking are Barbaras – usually costumers or producers or casting – which indicates to me that they are rather senior (in other words, little old ladies like me). Today there were two Keiths in the credits at the START of the movie! One of the actors and a producer were named Keith. What? Amazing. We saw three more Keiths in the end credits, without actually even looking for them. We were busy chatting about how much we loved the movie.

We completely missed hearing about this movie before it opened and almost missed seeing it in the theater. It is Power Ballad, starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. (As we were walking into the building today, Keith asked if it was Paul Rudd. I said, “Yes, and another guy.” He followed with, “The other guy?” I said, “No, another guy.” Sorry, Nick Jonas. You are more than just another guy.) It is going to be out of theaters soon, because it is only playing once/day this week. I am so glad we went!

Paul Rudd is a wannabe song writer and Nick Jonas is a washed-up former boy band member. They meet, spend an evening together, and Nick releases a winner of a song that Paul thinks Nick stole from him. There was a lot of drinking, so, hmmm. The drunken night of collaboration was just marvelous. Collaboration is marvelous and this was such a joy to feel like I was a part of!

I’m sure it will be streaming soon. Watch it.

Oh. I forgot about the Aoifes. The movie took place in and was filmed in Ireland. I guess that is where the Keiths live. One of the main actresses is Aoife. I wondered aloud if it is pronounces Ay-Oh-iffy. I assume, because all Irish names are so easy to pronounce. I saw the name again and again and again in the end credits. I looked it up. Eee-fuh. The internet said it rhymes with leefa. Leefa. I don’t think that is a word. Can you just say something rhymes with a made up word? Then why can’t orange rhyme with borange? Silver with bilver? More things to think about…

  1. “orange”.. Only you, me Julie and Keith will get that but everyone in awhile someone will say orange in a sentence and I laugh. But no one knows what I am laughing about. Barbara, you might have to explain. Or not?

    1. Barbara Thompson

I could never do it justice! Benjamin asked what our favorite show was and I tried to tell him how funny it was, but it just fell flat. Orange….
