We had a delightful boat ride with Kathy and Phil today. It was much cooler than yesterday, and very overcast, when we left home. I wore pants. I know I did, because I kept saying, “I’m wearing pants.” It felt like a really big deal. The sun came out, then went away. It was chilly on the way upriver and we were glad we were dressed in layers. On the way back, it was sunny and much warmer. Wonderful.
Keith and Phil shared an office at Microsoft in the Wells Fargo building downtown St. Paul. We could actually pick out their window from the river. Good times. Keith and Phil shared memories about Microsoft activities – Kathy and I had NO memory whatsoever of a Christmas party when someone’s wive had to be ambulanced away. They were remembering and Kathy and I had NOTHING. I suggested maybe it had only been for employees – then realized it was a wife that got sick. Huh. Neither of us could fathom our husbands remembering when we didn’t. Wow
The men had hot dogs from the snack bar and then we sent them back to get us hot dogs. You just never know when a hot dog is going to be just the thing. Their kids (twins!) are about 11-15 years behind ours. Wait. No. Wait. Yes. Wow. Our kids are old. Other than that, we are pretty in sync and had ample things to chat about. What a treat it was to spend time with new(ish) friends. This boat season pass thing is really turning out to be a good thing.

Love the newsy post about my brother & Kathy and a little of your history.
Hi Marion! Nice to hear from you. Keith really enjoyed working with Phil and we are lucky that they have held onto a friendship for years after working together ended – it’s been 12 years!
