Who knew that was going to be so good? Not I.
EB, Kathy, Keith, and I set off for the Artistry theater’s production of Kiss Me Kate at about 6:35. We landed at just 7pm. I was happy we had more time to chat, because chatting time with friends is great. As we started across the parking lot, Keith retrieved the tickets he printed yesterday.
“Uh oh. The show starts right now. It’s 7:00, not 7:30!”
We scurried. As we got to the door we could see a couple people by the theater door.
“They are still letting people in!” We ran (ish. You know how I run. People can’t tell I am running).
Our seats are in the center of the loooong row. As we hurried in, we were shocked to see a nearly empty house. What? Maybe it was 7:30. Nope. Just a sadly, poorly attended show. We didn’t go all the way in to our seats, stopping and sitting in the half empty row.
The show was great! I assumed because it is an older show that the humor would be a bit stale, but not at all – we all laughed out loud (I admit being more of a smiler than a laugher). The singers were incredible. The dancing was terrific. What a great time it was! One of the best parts? The opening number – Another Opening, Another Show – knocked the West Side Story soundtrack off the loop it has been playing in my head since last week. I love WSS, but a week is enough of non-stop looping.
The art gallery had up paper for visitors to write on during these dark and horrible times in Minnesota. How is this the United States?

I knew the song before I knew the references within. It still occasionally arrives to loop in the head.

I went to Kiss Me Kate in high school when professional tours presented plays in the St Paul Auditorium. The cast included some famous actors…just can’t remember who.
I did see Finan’s Rainbow with Lesley Gore there.😀
