Upstairs on Main Street

I started my day by forgetting my phone. I sat down and Keith went back for it. He will definitely have more steps than I will today. I was outside the laundry area of the neighboring hotel. There was a little boy playing on a tablet and a dad asleep on a bench.

We paused to take a drink from a bubbler in the line for Phantom Manor. For the first time that I can ever remember, the person behind us waited for us and didn’t just walk past us. I told her I really appreciated it. How thoughtful she was. Turns out she’s from New Brunswick, Canada, on a solo trip around Europe, ending with 3 days at Disneyland. Her name is Jesse. We enjoyed chatting with her in the line and giving her tips on what we have learned. The ride stopped a couple times, so I took a few pictures.

It was much warmer today than it has been and we spent some of the warmest time going through the castle here. This castle is outstanding. Not only is there a dragon underneath it, but upstairs there are beautiful stained-glass windows and tapestries telling the story of Sleeping Beauty.

Here’s a picture for Alexander. He either really likes this owl or really doesn’t. It’s hard to remember, but he always makes me think of Alexander.

This Sully reminded me of Alexander with his smirky smile. Isn’t he cute?

We found the non-peach version of the delicious popsicles.

We went to Mickey’s Philharmagic. It is presented at specific times during the afternoon. It is just a movie, and they haven’t changed anything from Florida, but you can’t go to it after 5:30. We waited in a long line to slowly enter the theater. I thought maybe people had already been going in and the theater was full and they were looking for seats for people. Nope. It turns out they just don’t know how to fill a hall. Everyone just came in and sat down in the middle and stopped. We were stuck walking all the way around to come in from the other side. It was also dark like the movie was already going. Very weird.

Our dinner tonight was at Walt’s, an American restaurant. It was beautiful. It felt very special. We got a seat overlooking Main Street. Keith had some kind of sea bass that he thought was awesome. And I ordered chili con carne. It said it was Walt’s favorite and it was also served with a can of chili. I did not understand what that meant. It meant that there was a steak and chili over rice dish on my plate and in a porcelain can, there was what I would call chili. That was my favorite part of the meal. I ate it all.

A little parade even went down the street while we were there!

I took my first ride I can remember not in the back of the train on Big Thunder Mountain. I asked the guy for the back and he said not possible, indicating that the handicap line people were going to get to ride in the back. I started to ask if I could sit just slightly farther back, but he was very rude. I didn’t like him. The ride was great though. Because the ride is on an island you go through a tunnel there and back and it was great.

The best ride here is Crush’s Coaster- a spinning coaster. The line has always been an hour or more long. We kept hoping it would drop, but we finally bit the bullet and got in line. Ha! We got on twice in an hour!

We had a little time before the end-of-the-night show, so we walked through Toy Story Land, looking for a quick ride. We found one! RC Racer has been closed the whole time we’ve been here, but suddenly it was open. There was a handmade little sign that said 20 minutes. We zoomed right into the line. The line is an awesome track that was completely empty. We rode and went around for a second ride. We were on again as soon as we could hurry along the track.

We got to the nighttime show just as it was starting. It’s on the lake with lots of viewing area around it They have lots of fountains, and spray water to project pictures onto. It was also a great drone show, finishing with some great fireworks. We could see fine from our outskirt stopping point and were ahead of the crowd leaving the park. Perfect.
